The Island
Floreana is the sixth largest island in the Galapagos (173 km²). Named after Juan José Flores, the first Ecuadorian president, Floreana was the first island to be colonized. Is currently the least populated in the country. It has around 150 inhabitants.
Our Story
Guarded by its splendid hills and inhabited by its unique flora and fauna, Floreana is also a paradise full of stories and enigmatic characters. Aquí vivieron el pirata irlandés Patrick Watkins y la extravagante y ambiciosa baronesa Eloise Wagner de Bousquet, que intentó sin éxito construir un hotel de lujo en Floreana en la década de 1930.
The stories of the Wittmer family, Dr. Friderich Witter, the Cruz family, and the Freire family, three-generation, are key to understanding the singular biography of this magical island baptized as the "beautiful and gentle."
